June is my favourite time of year in Halton. The energy in both Milton and Oakville shifts in a way that reminds you exactly why you chose to live here. Streets fill up, patios open, neighbours come out of their winter routines and suddenly the community feels alive again.

This month I’ve put together a brief summer guide for both towns. Whether you are a long-time local or someone who has been thinking about making this area home, I hope it gives you a few ideas for the weeks ahead. I have also included a quick look at where the market sits as we head into the busiest stretch of the year.

Summer Activities in Milton

Milton continues to grow, but it has held on to the small-town feel that makes it special. This summer there is plenty on the calendar to enjoy.

Downtown Milton SummerFest (June 6)

If you missed it this year, put it in your calendar for next June. The Downtown Business Improvement Area closes off Main Street and takes over with food trucks, live music on multiple stages, kids activities, a beer garden and local vendors. It is the unofficial start of summer in Milton and it shows.

44th Annual Strawberry Fair (June 20)

A tradition that has been going strong for 44 years. Head to the Milton Fairgrounds for fresh strawberries, local vendors and a real sense of community. Simple, wholesome and worth every minute.

Canada Day at the Fairgrounds (July 1)

Milton throws a proper Canada Day celebration with live entertainment, family activities and all the community spirit you would expect from a town that genuinely loves where it lives.

Milton African and Multicultural Festival (August 1)

One of the highlights of the summer calendar. Held at Santa Maria Blvd, this festival celebrates the remarkable diversity that has come to define modern Milton. Great food, music, art and culture all in one place.

Milton AfroJazz Festival (August 22)

A laid-back afternoon of live jazz at Milton Community Sports Park. This is the kind of event that sneaks up on you and becomes an annual favourite. Worth clearing your Saturday for.

Summer Activities in Oakville

Oakville has always known how to do summer well. Between the waterfront, the downtown core and the Bronte Village, there is something going on just about every weekend from now through August.

Inaugural Oakville Food Truck Festival (July 11 and 12)

Brand new this year and already generating a lot of buzz. Thirty food trucks descend on Bronte Heritage Waterfront Park for two days of great food, local performers and free admission. A proper street party with a waterfront backdrop.

Friday Night Jazz at Towne Square (All Summer)

Every Friday evening through the summer, Towne Square on George Street hosts free live jazz from 7 to 9 pm. It is one of those low-key, high-quality events that Oakville does so well. Grab a coffee, find a spot and enjoy the evening.

Bronte Farmers Market (Every Sunday)

More than 35 vendors set up every Sunday from 10 am to 2 pm all summer long. Fresh produce, handmade goods, baked treats and a genuinely lovely atmosphere down by the water.

Oakville Wind Orchestra Concerts (July and August)

Six free, family-friendly concerts under the gazebo at Bronte Heritage Waterfront Park running through July and August. Canada's oldest community concert band and it shows. A wonderful evening out.

5th Annual Oakville Latino Festival

A full day of Latin food, dance, music and art at Bronte Heritage Waterfront Park. Now in its fifth year, this festival has built a loyal following and keeps getting better.

Art in the Park (August 3)

Over 180 artists and artisans from across Canada set up for one day at the waterfront. If you appreciate original work and love supporting independent artists, this one is not to be missed.

May Market Update

A quick look at where things stand as we head into the summer market...

There has been a lot of noise in the media lately about economic uncertainty, and I hear it in conversations with clients on both sides of the transaction. Buyers are more cautious than they were a couple of years ago. Sellers are wondering whether now is still a good time. These are fair questions and they deserve honest answers.

What I can tell you from being on the ground in Halton every day is that the fundamentals here remain solid. The lifestyle, the schools, the sense of community and the long-term trajectory of this region have not changed. What has changed is that decisions are taking a little longer and the days of waiving every condition are mostly behind us. For buyers, that is actually good news. For sellers, it means preparation and pricing matter more than ever.

Spring Home Sales Stronger Than Last Year

06/02/2026

The Greater Toronto Area (GTA) resale housing market tightened in May 2026 compared to last year. Sales increased year-over-year, whereas new listings declined over the same period. As standing inventory has been absorbed, competition between buyers has likely increased in some neighbourhoods. This should see the price trend flatten and ultimately trend upwards in the months ahead.

“Spring sales have been stronger than last year, reflecting improved affordability stemming from lower selling prices and borrowing costs. Sales are forecast to improve further as we move through the second half of this year. Recovery would be further bolstered by positive news on the trade front along with an easing of geopolitical tensions and related uncertainty,” said TRREB President Daniel Steinfeld.

“Inventory levels trended lower over the past year, but buyers continued to have substantial negotiating power through the spring, helping with affordability. Looking ahead, if sales strengthen further relative to listings, selling prices will level off and even start to grow as we move into 2027,” said TRREB Chief Information Officer Jason Mercer.
